Son of Former Chief of Staff of Israel Killed in Gaza
In fierce battles taking place in the Gaza Strip, 25-year-old Gal Eisenkot, son of former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces and member of the narrow military cabinet Gadi Eisenkot, has been killed. Israeli media reports indicate that Gal was a reservist who suffered severe injuries from an explosion in a tunnel in Jabalia. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead.
It has been reported that Gadi Eisenkot learned of his son's death during a visit to the Southern Command of the Israeli forces. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed condolences regarding the death of Gal Eisenkot.
