“It Will Be the Armenians' Choice”: Azerbaijani Official
The Zangezur Corridor is a strategic project that will provide a significant boost to global trade. According to Trend, this was stated by Elchin Amirbekov, the Azerbaijani President's Special Representative for Special Assignments, in an interview with the analytical and informational portal ‘In Terris’.
“In fact, this is not only a link connecting Azerbaijan and Armenia or the states of the region, but at the same time, in a broader sense, it can become an alternative route for the Middle Corridor that will connect Asia with Europe. Essentially, this is a strategic project that will provide a powerful impetus to global trade. If Armenia does not like the term ‘corridor,’ they can use terms like ‘passage,’ ‘road,’ ‘connection,’ and other similar words. The corridor is purely an economic and transportation concept. If Armenia does not fulfill its obligations on this matter, we essentially have an alternative option. Thus, in the near future, a project will be implemented that will connect the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via a railway and highway passing through Iran. As for Armenia, it will remain in a deadlock in the region, and that will be precisely the Armenians' choice,” he stated.
