Azerbaijan's Preparations for Aggression Against Armenia and Territorial Demands
On November 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made several statements during a panel discussion at the 6th Peace Forum in Paris, which were responded to by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The official Baku has "strongly condemned and rejected" Pashinyan's allegations regarding the ethnic cleansing of Armenian residents in the "Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan." They called on the Armenian side to refrain from statements that undermine the "prospects for peace" and to utilize the historic opportunities to transform the South Caucasus into a region of peace and cooperation.
"It is completely unfounded that the request of the Western Azerbaijani community for a safe and dignified return to their ancestral lands has been characterized by the Prime Minister of Armenia as territorial demands and preparations for aggression against Armenia. We hope that Armenia will respond appropriately in the near future to Azerbaijan's calls for the normalization of relations and the signing of a peace treaty," reads a statement from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
It is noteworthy that during his speech, the Armenian Prime Minister stated: "Dear participants, I did not come to speak about war during this peace forum. I came to talk about peace, although Azerbaijan has begun to refer to the Republic of Armenia as 'Western Azerbaijan' after fulfilling the minimum of its plans for the ethnic cleansing of Armenians," Pashinyan emphasized, adding that the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' narrative is being promoted in Azerbaijani schools, universities, and media, which is a concept aimed at preparing for a new war against the Republic of Armenia.
