Garibashvili on Georgia's Path to Full EU Membership
Georgia needs to undertake a significant amount of work over the years to achieve its ultimate goal of becoming a full member of the European Union. This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during a press conference. The information was reported by TASS.
“Our ultimate goal is, of course, full integration into the EU, full membership in the European Union, for which much greater efforts will be required. This is a lengthy process. It will not be completed in one or two years. This is a multi-year process that requires the unity of our people, effective governance by our government and authorities, and the continuation of the reforms that we have been implementing over the last 11 years,” said Garibashvili.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the organization recommends the EU Council grant candidate status to Georgia. The European Commission has positively assessed the reforms carried out in Georgia but noted that the country still has certain work to do.
