Russian Soldiers Kill Georgian Citizen: Details
Russian soldiers have fatally wounded a Georgian citizen near the dividing line between Georgia and South Ossetia while attempting to arrest him. This information has been confirmed by the Georgian State Security Service. Another Georgian citizen has been detained, allegedly for illegally crossing the dividing line from the perspective of the border guards.
According to 'Current Time', the name of the deceased has been identified as Tamaz Ginturi, a 58-year-old resident of the area and a veteran of the 2008 Russo-Georgian war. The arrested individual is 35-year-old Levan Dodiashvili. He is reportedly injured and currently held in a detention facility in Tskhinvali.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Salome Zurabishvili have appealed to the international community to respond to Ginturi's killing. Garibashvili labeled the incident as a 'complex fact,' while Zurabishvili described it as a 'blatant attack on Georgian statehood.' The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case regarding the murder and abduction.
It is noted that the Georgian citizen was killed while on his way to church.
