Strengthening the EU Mission in Armenia is Essential, Says Roth
The European Union's mission in Armenia should be strengthened as quickly as possible. This was stated by Michael Roth, the chairman of the Bundestag's Committee on Foreign Relations, who is currently in Armenia.
“In order to monitor the entire border more effectively, we must strengthen the EU mission in Armenia as soon as possible to stabilize the situation and unveil potential attacks by Azerbaijan on Armenian territory,” he added.
Roth also expressed gratitude to the EU civilian mission team in Armenia. It's worth noting that on February 20, a new European mission consisting of 100 personnel was deployed in Armenia for a two-year mandate. The mission aims to contribute to stability in Armenia’s border regions, strengthen local trust, and create conditions conducive to efforts aimed at normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The mission has operational offices in Jermuk, Goris, Kapan, Martuni, Ijevan, and Yeghegdazor, as well as a liaison and support office in Yerevan.
