‘This could lead to absolutely horrific consequences,’ says Peskov

The cessation of the ‘hot’ phase of the conflict is a priority within the framework of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters today.

“Everyone understands that, first, the threat of escalation of the conflict still remains. This could lead to absolutely horrific consequences for the entire region. It could also result in an even greater humanitarian catastrophe. Therefore, of course, the main goal now is to stop the hot war, and then, indeed, approach the settlement process with fundamentally new efforts,” he said.

According to him, “We need an independent Palestinian state, we need security guarantees for Israel, for Israelis; they must live in peace and feel secure.”
