The Condition of the Metro Is Not So Good, Says Babken Sedrakyan
In the past week, public transportation in Yerevan's metro has transported 563,407 passengers. A total of 2,758 train services were suspended. This was reported today, October 16, during a regular administrative meeting at the Yerevan City Hall.
Babken Sedrakyan, the acting director of Yerevan Metro, mentioned that the company's technical condition is not very good. “We are waiting to receive spare parts, and some train cars need repairs. We expect funding from the government. There was a rejection from the Ministry of Finance once; they returned to us saying that those funds were planned for next year's budget, but the request has once again gone to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. I think it needs to be approved. We are talking about spare parts worth about 200 million drams,” Sedrakyan stated, adding that it is urgent for them.
The acting director informed that 4 km of rails are on the way, which will arrive in about a month.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan responded, “Send me your reference number; I will personally take care of it.”
