The Youngest Victim of the Yerevan-Gyumri Accident is 18 Years Old: New Details
After midnight today, the youngest victim of the tragic road accident on the Gyumri-Yerevan highway was revealed to be just 18 years old, while the oldest victim was 56. The latest data on the casualties has been released by the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In the catastrophic accident, the following individuals died: 21-year-old M. E., 41-year-old L. K., 18-year-old E. P., 27-year-old N. A., 21-year-old H. D., 24-year-old A. M., 50-year-old B. T., 45-year-old A. H., 51-year-old A. M., and 56-year-old A. M. Among the deceased was 35-year-old M. M., the driver of the Volkswagen microbus.
According to information from Gyumri Medical Center, injured individuals hospitalized include 27-year-old M. G., 34-year-old L. Q., 33-year-old H. P. (the driver of the ZIL truck), 38-year-old P. A., 23-year-old E. K., and 39-year-old E. S. The latter was transferred to Yerevan's Heratsi Medical Complex.
It should be noted that the RA Investigative Committee has identified 16 individuals as victims within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, and forensic medical examinations have been appointed. Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
The inspection of the accident site revealed that a Volkswagen passenger microbus and a ZIL truck collided head-on at the 90th kilometer of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, on the lane toward Yerevan. It is emphasized that the Volkswagen microbus was traveling in its designated lane towards Yerevan, while the ZIL was in the opposite lane heading toward Gyumri.
The Investigative Committee reports that the condition of the ZIL driver is assessed as serious, and he is unable to provide testimony.
It should be recalled that the tragic accident occurred on August 14 at approximately 00:20. In the administrative area of Lanjik village, the passenger-transporter Volkswagen microbus collided with a ZIL truck driven by 33-year-old H. P. Eleven people were killed in the accident.
Relatives of the injured told a Sputnik Armenia correspondent that the group was returning from Western Armenia, where they had traveled with the Hamshen Tour company.
