Nuland Explains to Usurpers that Rejecting Diplomatic Solutions Will Come at a High Cost

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, has clearly explained to the junta that seized power in Niger that failing to return to constitutional order and rejecting diplomatic solutions will result in a heavy price, with hundreds of millions of dollars in aid from the U.S. being suspended. This statement was made by a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department. There have been complicated discussions, but they have proven fruitless.

In an interview with the BBC, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the Russian 'Wagner' group is trying to take advantage of the instability in Niger. Following the ousting of President Mohamed Bazoum at the end of July, the country has been governed by a military junta.

“I think what has happened and continues to happen in Niger has not been instigated by Russia or Wagner but… they have tried to take advantage of it,” said Blinken.
