Metal Plant Under Construction in Yeraskh to Be Relocated: Sputnik
The metal plant being constructed in Yeraskh is set to be relocated soon to a different, safer location. According to Sputnik Armenia, the most likely option is an area adjacent to the city of Ararat.
The plant's management did not confirm or deny this information in an interview with the media, opting not to comment further.
It is important to note that since June 13, the Azerbaijani side has been sporadically firing towards the metallurgical plant under construction in Yeraskh. On June 14, two Indian workers employed at the facility were injured as a result of the gunfire. Tiran Hakobyan, director of the construction company “GTB Steel,” stated to the media that the plant's operations are currently paralyzed. Any attempt to carry out work at the construction site immediately places workers in the direct crosshairs of Azerbaijani armed forces.
The owners of the iron casting plant being built in Yeraskh are the American companies “Virtual Funding” and “CS Global Investments.” On July 14, they issued a joint statement addressing Azerbaijan, warning that if Azerbaijan fires upon unarmed workers again, they will consider it a direct attack on American capital.
Prior to that, on June 20, Armenian and American flags were raised at the construction site of the plant in Yeraskh. The initiative's authors hoped that the presence of the American flag could have a deterrent effect on Azerbaijan. However, the shelling did not cease even after foreign diplomats visited the Armenian-American enterprise and raised the American flag.
Judging by Azerbaijan's ongoing aggression towards Yeraskh, neither the statement from American investors nor the presence of the American flag has had any impact on the Azerbaijani authorities.
