VIDEO: No state funds were spent to purchase SU-30s, says David Tonoyan
No state funds were spent to purchase the SU-30s. Former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan made this statement today, August 1, during a session of the parliamentary commission investigating the incidents of the 44-day war.
"The SU-30s were multifunctional assets, which had both strike and fighter capabilities. In terms of strike capabilities, we had sufficient resources, at least for the first couple of days of combat operations related to armament, as well as the missiles that are now referred to among the public as 'rusty' and 'useless,'" declared David Tonoyan.
He also emphasized that these missiles were used during training flights and for hitting targets.
