Armenian Foreign Ministry on Baku's Refusal to Meet with Representatives from Stepanakert
The Armenian Foreign Ministry has responded to the unsubstantiated decision of official Baku to refuse a meeting between representatives of Azerbaijan and Stepanakert planned in Bratislava, answering a query from Radar Armenia.
“As we have repeatedly stated, addressing the rights and security of the Nagorno-Karabakh people through Baku-Stepanakert dialogue is crucial for establishing sustainable peace in the region. The Republic of Armenia raises the necessity of forming international mechanisms for this dialogue at all platforms and supports all efforts in this direction,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
“Unfortunately, official Baku not only refuses this dialogue but also continues its policy of ethnically cleansing the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. Due to the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh remain besieged, deprived of food, medicine, fuel, and electricity. In cases requiring medical assistance, Azerbaijan openly abducts residents with serious health issues from Nagorno-Karabakh in the presence of the ICRC and Russian peacekeepers,” the response from the Foreign Ministry elaborates.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Tigran Petrosyan, the head of the anti-crisis council of Artsakh's President, announced that Azerbaijan had refused the meeting without explanation.
