Mother Who Abandoned Newborn in Polyethylene Bag Near Chapel Says She Is Ashamed to Have Child at 56
Law enforcement officials have identified the woman who left her newborn son in a polyethylene bag near a chapel in the village of Nerkin Getashen, Gegharkunik Province. This information was confirmed in a conversation with Auroranews by the Investigative Committee.
A resident of the village informed MediaHub that it has been revealed the woman lives close to the chapel, meaning she is a resident of the same village. She lives with her sons and grandchildren.
According to reports received by the media, when she was discovered, she made a self-incriminating statement, stating that she was ashamed to have a child at her age of 56, as she lives with her sons and grandchildren. This was the reason that led her to take that step. According to information from the website, Shoghik M. stated in the investigation that no one knew about her pregnancy.
Additionally, the Investigative Committee only confirmed the information in a conversation with Auroranews and stated that investigative actions are currently underway. They indicated that it is not appropriate to disclose personal details or circumstances at this time, citing the interests of the investigation.
It is worth recalling that on July 22, a newborn was found near the chapel in the "Saint Burial" neighborhood of Nerkin Getashen village. Police discovered the boy in a yellow polyethylene bag near the chapel. He was born prematurely, at six months of gestation. Unfortunately, on the same day, the child passed away.
