Shoigu to Visit North Korea for the First Time to Strengthen Military Ties
The delegation headed by the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu will visit North Korea from July 25 to 27. Invited by the North Korean Ministry of Defense, the delegation will participate in events celebrating the "victory of the Korean people in the 1950-1953 Patriotic Liberation War."
"This visit will contribute to the strengthening of Russian-North Korean military ties and will mark an important phase in the development of cooperation between the two countries," the Russian Defense Ministry's press service stated.
This will be Shoigu's first visit to North Korea. According to a press release from the Korean Central News Agency, the military delegation's visit will be "an important step towards increasing and enhancing the traditional relations between the countries." A delegation from China will also attend the events.
