Protesters in Iran Demand Expulsion of Swedish Ambassador
Protesters organized in Tehran against the act of burning the Quran in Stockholm have demanded the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador from the country, according to РИА Новости.
Some participants in the demonstration are holding banners that read, 'The embassy must be closed.' According to agency reports, the rally is taking place right in front of the Swedish embassy in Iran's capital, where police forces are also present.
The day before, Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish ambassador and delivered a note of protest, condemning the repeated desecration of the Quran in Sweden. Local media report that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani has decided to expel the Swedish ambassador to Baghdad, Jessica Svärdström.
