We Must Strengthen Ourselves So They Call Us and Ask What We Want: Davit Hakobyan's Appeal

“Now they are calling us to not have a state so that we are not slaughtered. Did we have a state in Western Armenia when we were slaughtered, then why were we slaughtered?” said renowned Armenian artist Davit Hakobyan during an interview with reporters at a rally in front of the French Embassy.

“We urgently need a 40-year existential security guarantee so that during those years a new elite emerges, the cream that the people should follow. Our super task today is to create a security guarantee. Otherwise, we will end up like the ducks that die, while people suggest trying various medicines,” he stated.

Hakobyan noted that he does not understand whom they are demanding things from. “Today, we demand from the French Embassy, the USA, Russia, but what do we demand from the strong? We must strengthen ourselves so that they call us and ask what we want. Honestly, I don’t understand what our super task is in Armenia today, because I know a simple truth – first, you need to know what you want,” added the esteemed artist.

It is worth noting that protests in support of the people of Artsakh continue in Yerevan. Residents of Artsakh and dozens of citizens are demonstrating in front of the French Embassy demanding the unblocking of the Lachin Corridor.
