1260 People Received 2 Positive Evaluations but Were Excluded from the Competition: Karo Nasibyan
On July 18, we completed the main competition of the admission examinations. The results have already been published. This was stated by Karo Nasibyan, Deputy Director of the Assessment and Testing Center, during a press conference at the Armenpress press hall.
“The total number of applicants to universities is 13,314, with 10,966 having taken the unified examination. In the 2023 university admission competition, including intra-university specializations, the number of accepted students is 9,147. Free places were allocated for 2,128 individuals, and 1,782 were admitted. The number of paid places is 15,984, with 7,242 applicants admitted,” said Nasibyan.
Speaking about the unified examination competition, he noted that 7,355 individuals were accepted into universities, including 1,451 on a free basis and 5,799 on a paid basis. The number of those who received 2 positive evaluations in the unified examinations but were excluded from the competition is 1,260. He also added that 366 applicants participated in the examinations without selecting a specialization.
Furthermore, to increase the attractiveness of agricultural and pedagogical specializations among applicants, changes are proposed regarding the scholarship amount. “We plan to sharply increase the scholarship amount. Instead of the current 5-6 thousand drams, it will be set at 70-77 thousand drams. Scholarships will be provided to both free and paid students. Outstanding students will receive a 10% surcharge,” said Lusine Grigoryan. The project will soon be submitted to the government. Once approved, it is likely that students accepted into agricultural and pedagogical specialties will receive the increased scholarship starting from the beginning of this academic year.
Changes are also expected in the admission mechanisms. Lusine Grigoryan reported that discussions are currently underway regarding the process that would facilitate the transition from high school, as well as from vocational institutions focused on agriculture to the Agricultural University.
