Import and Sale of Pyrotechnics to be Banned with Certain Exceptions
The import and sale of pyrotechnics will be banned with certain exceptions. The National Assembly, with 60 votes in favor and 22 abstentions, accepted the draft law on amendments and additions to the 'Licensing' law in the second reading and in full.
From January 2024, fireworks will only be permitted during community and state holidays and during significant events organized by the state.
MP Arsen Torosyan from the ruling Civil Contract party suggested that citizens of Armenia should act more responsibly and implement the law immediately rather than waiting six months for it to take effect.
It is noteworthy that this draft law was proposed by MP Sisak Gabrielyan from the Civil Contract party on August 14, 2022, following the explosion at the Surmalu shopping center, which resulted in the deaths of 16 people, with one person still missing.
