Ukraine-NATO Council to be Established: Stoltenberg
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced the creation of a Ukraine-NATO Council, which will facilitate all interactions between the alliance and the Kyiv authorities.
According to him, the establishment of this council is an important step in NATO's integration process with Ukraine.
Stoltenberg explained that a key advantage of the newly created council is that individual NATO members will not be able to block its proceedings. “I will preside over the council and will convene its meetings. Thus, individual NATO countries will not be able to prevent the Ukraine-NATO Council meetings. Each country, including Ukraine, will also be able to call for meetings in case of urgent consultations. This is the difference from the previous committee,” the NATO Secretary General noted.
He also recalled that since 1997, the cooperation between Ukraine and the alliance has been conducted through a special committee. The level of cooperation has significantly increased since then.
