Azerbaijan Manipulates the Meaning and Substance of Court Ruling: Yeghishe Kirakosyan

Official Baku is manipulating the decision of the International Court of Justice, says Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Armenia's representative for international legal issues. He insists that Azerbaijan must comply with the court's recent ruling without reservations and unblock the Lachin corridor.

“Azerbaijan is, of course, once again manipulating the meaning and substance of the court's decision. The court stated that under these circumstances, it does not find it necessary to change the provisional measure it has applied,” he told Azatutyun in an interview.

Following the decision made in February and its non-implementation, Armenia recently appealed again to the Hague court, alerting that Baku not only fails to open the only route connecting Artsakh to Armenia but has also set up a checkpoint in the corridor.

“At the same time, the court unanimously reaffirmed the provisional measure applied on February 22, which essentially means one thing: in the current situation, the court deems necessary and applicable that Azerbaijan is obliged to ensure or take all necessary measures within its jurisdiction to guarantee the unimpeded passage of persons, vehicles, and cargo through the Lachin corridor.
