The Government Exempts Weightlifter Simon Martirosyan from Mandatory Military Service
The government decided in its session today, June 29, to exempt Simon Martirosyan, a member of the national weightlifting team, dual world and European champion, double Olympic silver medalist, and 3rd place winner of the European Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan in 2023, from mandatory military service.
The justification for the decision states that Simon Martirosyan was granted a deferment by the decision made on July 22, 2022, until the summer conscription of 2023. He is preparing to participate in the 2023 World Championship and the 2024 European and World Championships, alongside the Summer Olympic Games.
