Karen Andreasian's Goal is to Remove Judge Davit Harutyunyan: Lawyer
The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Karen Andreasian, well aware that attorneys will not be able to attend the court session that day, announced that the council had decided in advance to schedule the session for June 26 at 14:00, that is, on the day of the lawyers' strike. This was stated today by lawyer Mihran Poghosyan during a conversation with journalists.
Davit Harutyunyan requested that the date of the court session be changed because he cannot include lawyers in his actions until Monday, as they will not participate in the strike; however, this request was rejected.
“Davit Harutyunyan requested that the date of the court session be changed because he cannot include lawyers who will not participate in the strike until Monday, but this objection was also rejected. Naturally, Karen Andreasian has done this intentionally,” said Poghosyan.
According to Poghosyan, Andreasian's initiative as the chair is highly excessive. “A question is being discussed, and Mr. Andreasian says the council decided, yet we do not see the council's discussion. He also states that we have a plan; if the council has an objection, he says, no, silence is the answer. Then, for instance, he addresses Ms. Tumanyants, saying, ‘Isn't that so, Ms. Tumanyants? Did you want to say anything?’,” noted Mihran Poghosyan.
The lawyer observes that the Supreme Judicial Council exhibits great haste in this session, especially as sessions in other cases are delayed for months. “The court had its established decisions from the outset. This is certainly for illegal purposes. Karen Andreasian's goal is to remove Judge Davit Harutyunyan,” he said.
