After the Dilijan Brawl, Tempers Remain High: 'Hayastani Aysor'

The daily newspaper 'Hayastani Aysor' reports that following last week's brawl in Dilijan involving members of the "Civil Contract" party, tensions have not subsided. Officials continue to settle scores with one another.

Previously, it was reported that the gathering of the party in Dilijan ended with a fight in which party members assaulted the head of the Vayk community, Mkhitar Matevosyan, for having passed by without greeting some attendees. The main participants were the mayors and regional leaders from the ruling party.

The Governor of Ararat region, Edward Hovhannisyan, confronted Matevosyan, asking why he did not greet as he walked by. Matevosyan responded that he did not wish to greet anyone, prompting a heated argument, followed by pulling and hitting between the governor and the community leader.

It appears that even after this incident, officials are still unsettled, as they continue to meet and engage in what they refer to as “razborka.” Initially, Sergei Bagratian, an MP from the ruling faction, also considered a patron of the Vayk mayor, sought to settle scores with Governor Hovhannisyan.

Furthermore, according to 'Hayastani Aysor', a group of ruling party MPs recently convened with regional governors. It seems that these brawl-loving officials have realized that they have angered Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. They decided to hold one last meeting to discuss the altercation in hopes of closing the topic and preventing any further escalation to avoid further angering Pashinyan.

Whether or not the ruling party members will calm down remains to be seen, but it is a fact that the "Velvet Revolutionaries" are not backing down from their criminal behavior even compared to their predecessors.
