Moscow Engages Daily with Baku and Yerevan on Unblocking Issues, Says Overchuk
Moscow is in almost daily contact with Baku and Yerevan to unblock transport links between Azerbaijan and Armenia, stated Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Russia is participating in the negotiations, proposing solutions, and facilitating communication between the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, providing a platform for dialogue. I never answer the question of when the unblocking will specifically occur and how fast or slow it will be; it will happen when the parties agree,” he said.
Overchuk also mentioned that he discussed unresolved issues with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. “Main work continues; we maintain almost daily contact regarding the unblocking of transport links with both the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides. We are in constant communication—phone calls and file exchanges. The work does not stop,” Overchuk added in response to questions about the timeline for the next meeting of the trilateral working group.
