I Consider the Installation of the Nemesis Statue to be a Mistake; It is Not a State Policy Line - Simonian
I consider the installation of the Nemesis statue to be a mistake because it is not state policy and cannot be. This was stated today, June 13, during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian.
According to him, resolving issues outside of court cannot be a state policy line. "Do not say that there is any court decision there; that is not our court's decision. No representative of a state or any state can resolve an issue outside of the court, and this should not be encouraged," he said.
According to Simonian, the Turkish side can provide many reasons if they wish, and the topic of the Nemesis statue was merely an occasion. "As I stated in Turkey, I could find a million reasons not to go to Turkey and not go. If there is a will from Turkey, and I have the impression that there is, then this is a unique historical opportunity to normalize relations. The Armenian side is ready for this; it is prepared to go through even significant criticism to bring long-term peace to the Armenian people," Alen Simonian added.
