The West Intends to Drive a Wedge Between Russia and Belarus, Lavrov Says
Western countries seek to prevent the further strengthening of the Union State by attempting to sow discord between Russia and Belarus, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
During his welcoming speech to participants of the plenary session of the Russian-Belarusian historians' forum, the minister recalled the "cynical distortion of history, manipulation of facts, rewriting of textbooks, and the dismantling of monuments" by the collective West.
"The goal is obvious: to instigate inter-ethnic and inter-confessional hostility, incite linguistic chauvinism, and drive a wedge between our fraternal peoples to prevent the further strengthening of the Union State," Lavrov emphasized.
