Dilijan Police Chief Apologizes to Waiter: Details
The incident occurred on April 10 of this year. A citizen's report was received by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia from the Prosecutor's Office on May 10. On the same day, a criminal case was initiated by the Tavush Regional Investigative Department, based on part 2, point 3 of article 195 of the RA Criminal Code, and an investigation was launched, spokesperson Gor Abrahamyan reported to Aysor.am in response to a video circulating online showing Dilijan's police chief attacking a 16-year-old waiter.
The young man, born in 2006, who works as a waiter in a restaurant-hotel complex, has been recognized as the victim. No bodily injuries were found upon external examination. During the investigation, A.G. submitted a request to the investigative body, expressing complete remorse for his actions, stating that he had met with the victim and apologized, and he is also ready to apologize to the victim's parents. He fully understands and acknowledges that he exhibited inappropriate behavior and requested that public criminal prosecution not be initiated against him based on genuine remorse.
Considering the aforementioned and the fact that A.G. has cooperated with the investigative body, does not contest the alleged act categorized as a minor offense, on May 29, 2023, a request was submitted to the supervising prosecutor regarding the criminal proceedings under part 2, point 3 of article 195 of the RA Criminal Code, for not initiating a criminal prosecution on the basis of genuine remorse—which was granted,” Gor Abrahamyan reported.
It should be noted that a video had circulated showing the police chief of Dilijan in Tavush province, Arsen Gaytmzian, assaulting a 16-year-old boy.
