I Am Not Dying, Relax: Lukashenko on His Illness

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has commented on reports regarding his illness, stating that he has adenovirus and does not intend to die.

"If anyone thinks that I am going to die, relax, relax. This is nothing more than idle speculation in messengers and Telegram channels. Adenovirus or what? Adenovirus," said Lukashenko.

According to the Belarusian president, his illness has been related to his busy schedule, which has also not allowed him the chance to recover.

"That’s why I’m not going to die... You will have to endure me for a long time," summarized the leader of Belarus.

On May 14th, it was reported that Lukashenko missed the ceremony celebrating the Belarusian flag, coat of arms, and anthem day. According to journalists, the president fell ill, likely being infected with SARS after participating in events in Moscow on May 9th. Reportedly, several people from the politician's entourage have also fallen ill with the flu.
