Former Wagner Group Commander Announces Return to Russia
Andrei Medvedev, the former commander of the Wagner Group who fled to Norway, has been received at the consular section of the Russian Embassy in Oslo, according to diplomatic representatives who spoke to РИА Новости. They emphasized that his decision to return to Russia is "his own initiative."
"The question of his return to Russia will be determined according to Russian legislation," said Timur Chekanov, a press secretary at the embassy.
In his video address, Medvedev announced his decision to return to Russia despite believing that it could pose a "risk to his life."
"I had hoped to find peace and tranquility here (in Norway), to leave behind all politics, war, and the army, but for some reason, I was unable to do so," said Medvedev. According to the former PMC commander, he made the decision himself, but not without external factors.
