Prigozhin on the Situation in Bakhmut

Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner private military company, claims that Russian Defense Ministry units have abandoned their positions near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, allowing the Ukrainian armed forces to capture strategically important heights.

According to Prigozhin, the Defense Ministry's units have ceased operations on the road from Bakhmut leading to the rear of the Ukrainian army, towards the town of Chasiv Yar: "Just today, the enemy has completely liberated the Chasiv Yar-Bakhmut road, which we had blocked, known as 'the encirclement of Bakhmut.' And the enemy will be able to use this road, and secondly, they have taken tactical heights from where Bakhmut is now fully visible," Prigozhin stated.

It is currently impossible to operationally verify the information that the Bakhmut-Chasiv Yar section has been cleared. In recent days, Ukrainian sources have reported that the road is not blocked but remains under fire. Already on May 10, in the 93rd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is located in Bakhmut, discussions were held about the Russian forces' assault in the area of the Bakhmut-Chasiv Yar road.
