Lavrov Calls Turkey a Good Neighbor and Important Partner of Russia
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has wished his Turkish counterparts success in the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for May 14, expressing confidence that they will be fair and transparent. This information was reported by TASS.
“I would like to wish our Turkish colleagues successful elections—taking this opportunity. As far as I know, these elections have already begun outside the country. I am convinced that they will be fair, transparent, and will provide an opportunity for the Turkish people to express their will, regardless of any external interference,” Lavrov said in Moscow while opening a quadrilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of Syria, Turkey, and Iran.
Lavrov referred to Turkey as a good neighbor and important partner of Russia. “We see how much its international and regional authority has grown in recent years, and we are determined to further expand and strengthen our bilateral cooperation,” he noted.
Earlier, it was reported that the foreign ministers of the four countries are discussing developments in Syria and the normalization of Turkish-Syrian relations in Moscow.
