Russia Establishes Life Imprisonment for State Treason
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that imposes life imprisonment for state treason. This was reported by TASS.
According to the law, individuals may face life imprisonment for joining the enemy or for providing financial, advisory, or other assistance to actions directed against Russia.
Previously, the law prescribed a penalty of up to 20 years of imprisonment for treason, along with a fine of up to 500,000 rubles.
