Putin Signs Law on Amendments to CSTO Charter
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on amendments to the CSTO Charter, which states that member countries will also cooperate in the field of biological security. The corresponding document has been published on the official legal information portal.
“The fourth protocol stipulates that the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) cooperate in the field of biological security. In addition, it defines the possibility of early termination of the Secretary General of the CSTO’s powers by the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council,” reads the explanatory note accompanying the document.
The law aims to ratify the fourth protocol on amendments to the CSTO statute dated October 7, 2002, which was signed on August 26, 2022.
The CSTO includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
