France Calls for the Unblocking of the Lachin Corridor, Says Foreign Minister

France’s Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna addressed the results of her meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on her Twitter account. She also urged Baku to unblock the Lachin corridor.

“A long substantive conversation with President Aliyev. France encourages peaceful negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in accordance with international law and calls for the unblocking of the Lachin corridor. Rebuilding trust requires concrete actions,” wrote the French Foreign Minister.

It is noteworthy that Colonna also met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov today.

Recall that Azerbaijan has been keeping the Lachin corridor closed since December 12, refusing to comply with the decision of the International Court of Justice. Additionally, on April 23, Baku established an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin corridor.
