Everyone is Waiting for Nikol Pashinyan's Command: 'Zhoghovurd'
QP faction MP Hovik Aghazaryan has been regularly 'threatening' to dismiss the chair of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan. He announced yesterday that he has already gathered enough signatures and presented Tovmasyan's case for discussion by the QP faction. This has been reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
It should be noted that Aghazaryan first hinted at this intention on April 4, before the committee meeting regarding the Human Rights Defender candidate, even before the meeting started. According to newspaper sources, however, behind this plan is actually the QP leadership, specifically Secretary Arthur Hovhannisyan and Defense Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan, who, using Aghazaryan, aim to eliminate the sole opposition chair from the National Assembly committee.
It is they who have instructed Aghazaryan to initiate the dismissal process, even telling him what to say from the National Assembly podium or in interviews with the media. It can be said that in this case, Hovik Aghazaryan is merely a 'puppet' in a plan to dismiss an opposition official.
Even for the QP members, Aghazaryan's initiative was unexpected, as he typically does not show much interest in such domestic political issues, let alone present such an initiative. While it has been reported that Andranik Kocharyan and Arthur Hovhannisyan are working daily with QP members to join Aghazaryan's initiative, by yesterday afternoon, more than half had refused to sign.
Everyone is waiting for Nikol Pashinyan's command to sign or reject Aghazaryan.
