Upcoming Changes to Military Uniforms, Says Deputy Minister of Defense
From now on, individuals who wear military uniforms without the right to do so will be subject to administrative liability. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan during the first reading of the draft amendments to the "Disciplinary Code of the RA Armed Forces" and the "Law on Military Service and the Status of a Soldier" in the National Assembly.
"This will pertain to the military uniform defined by the government at any given time," said the deputy minister. According to him, there is an issue related to the free sale of military uniforms that requires regulation, as anyone can purchase them. However, according to Sargsyan, the situation will change due to sanctions, as the wearer will certainly be held accountable.
Sargsyan added that there will be changes to the military uniform in the near future: "We have already initiated a change in the uniform. The process has begun, and it is being completely reviewed. We will have a new uniform in the near future."
It should be noted that the amendments to the laws also define a ban on participating in gatherings or other public protests while wearing military uniforms, as well as a prohibition on making political statements individually or collectively. Sharing and discussing information, videos, or photographs regarding the activities or deployment of the Armed Forces, or the whereabouts of oneself or other service members through the internet or media is also prohibited, except for official publications.
Additionally, a provision is established for contractual service members to extend their service for up to ten years after reaching the age limit, one year at a time. Service members will also be prohibited from using smartphones.
