‘You depopulated Artsakh, and now you are depopulating Meghri, right?’: Meghri residents protest
‘You depopulated Artsakh, and now you are depopulating Meghri, right?’ Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. If there is no water, it's clear that even if the residents of Meghri want to stay, they cannot. This was stated by one of the participants during a protest that just started.
It is worth mentioning that the residents of Meghri are staging a protest against the exploitation of a copper mine in the village of Lichk. ‘Years ago, the Russians and the Turks agreed that whatever mines exist in the Syunik region must be opened. They open the mines, take their profits, and as for the people, they are being killed automatically, fleeing from this place, while the territory is being given as a gift to the Turk,’ said one man involved in the protest.
