Israel Begins Negotiations on Legal Reforms That Sparked Mass Protests

Negotiations have commenced in Israel regarding the legal reforms proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, taking place at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem, reports the Times of Israel.

The negotiation process was initiated by President Isaac Herzog, with representatives from the opposition, the ruling Likud party, and its coalition partners partaking in the discussions.

At the same time, some Israelis who support Netanyahu's government plans and oppose a compromise with the opposition gathered for a protest. An additional 3,000 people staged a demonstration in Tel Aviv against the legal reforms, despite Netanyahu's promise to freeze them and reach a compromise with the opposition.

On Monday, Netanyahu announced that the implementation of judicial reforms in Israel would be suspended at least until the completion of parliamentary reforms. He also indicated that the majority of his supporters back the reform, emphasizing that "it will be implemented in one form or another."
