Western Response Will Not Change Plans for Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Belarus: Peskov
The Western response will not change the plans regarding tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. This statement was made by the spokesperson for the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, as quoted by the TASS agency.
"Such a response, of course, cannot affect Russia's plans," Peskov said. He reminded that Putin "explained everything in his statements made during the interview on Saturday."
"There is nothing to add to that," Peskov emphasized.
Recall that on March 25, Putin announced that Moscow had reached an agreement with Minsk on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. He claimed that this would not violate the commitments made under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
"Starting from April 3, we will begin training the crews, and on July 1, we will complete the construction of the special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus," the Russian president said.
