China Ready to Continue Constructive Role in Political Resolution of Ukraine Issue: Xi Jinping
Chinese President Xi Jinping has stated that the country is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in the political resolution of the Ukraine issue. This was reported by РИА Новости.
During an unofficial meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, he emphasized that the voice of peace and reason prevails in the Ukrainian issue, with most states advocating for de-escalation of the situation and promoting reconciliation and negotiations, as well as opposing 'adding fuel to the fire.'
'Historically, conflicts have always been resolved through dialogue and negotiations,' the media outlet writes.
On February 24, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released proposals for resolving the situation in Ukraine. The plan consists of 12 points, calling for the initiation of peaceful negotiations and a ceasefire. The Chinese side is also opposed to unilateral sanctions, which only create new problems.
During his meeting with Xi Jinping, Putin remarked that the Russian side has carefully read China's proposed program for resolving the Ukrainian conflict. He added that the Russian side understands that Beijing is guided by the principles of fairness.
