6th Column Encouraging the 5th Column Overseeing Everything: Ohanyan

In an interview with NEWS.am, Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the 'Armenia' faction, addressed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the defeat in the 44-day war, attributing it to the presence of a 5th column within the army.

"However, those influenced by this notion, the 5th column has not been in the army; most of them have been elsewhere. Secondly, if it is about the 5th column, then those people should be caught and punished. And thirdly, regarding the situation in the army, they have also worked negatively on the military’s readiness, the disintegration of command, primarily through military and political changes, changes in development programs, modifications in the armed forces' weaponry and military equipment projects, and also adversely affecting the discipline," he stated.

According to Seyran Ohanyan, during the war, it was the state fighting, and one cannot simply say that the army has lost, especially since the Artsakh Defense Army accomplished its given task from 260 km out of 283 km. It is in that part where the opponent has infiltrated, and the responsibility lies with the Armenian authorities.

"Today, all the blame for the situation is placed on the army, particularly on the tactical and lower levels, saying there is a 5th column. If all of this is encouraged, who is the 5th column? Above the 5th column, there was a 6th column that was encouraging all of that," the opposition faction leader added.
