Pashinyan Responds Coldly to Torosyan, Others Stay Silent in Fear: 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: 'As we have already informed, the Civil Contract Party held a board meeting yesterday under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan. Exclusive details have emerged from the meeting. It is known that the meeting lasted over 4 hours and took place in a highly tense atmosphere. Pashinyan appeared very unsympathetic during the discussions.
At the beginning of the meeting, the party members asked Pashinyan about the developments concerning Armenia and Artsakh, particularly regarding the Lachin Corridor. The Prime Minister stated that there is no good news on that front.
The tension heightened particularly during discussions surrounding the events related to Arsen Torosyan. Torosyan tried in every possible way to justify himself to Pashinyan and his associates, providing various explanations as to how so many abuses occurred during his time in charge of the fight against coronavirus. Torosyan viewed the board meeting as a good opportunity to meet with Pashinyan and provide clarifications; however, he ultimately failed to establish any common ground or persuade the Prime Minister to treat him leniently.
Pashinyan responded very coldly to Torosyan's justifications, barely listening to him. Specifically, the Prime Minister mentioned that he is waiting for the progress of the preliminary investigation, after which it will become clear with whom they have been dealing.
The other members of the board refrained from joining the discussion in fear and remained silent. Torosyan also mentioned that if he is not trusted within the team, then he has no role to play. Within the Civil Contract Party, they do not rule out the possibility that things could reach a point where Torosyan may resign his mandate in the near future.'
