Vladimir Putin and the Iranian President Have Had a Phone Conversation: What We Know
Russian President Vladimir Putin has had a phone conversation with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. This is reported by the Kremlin's press service.
During the conversation, the leaders assessed the current level and dynamics of Russian-Iranian relations. Putin and Raisi discussed the development of bilateral relations, including in the area of joint infrastructure projects, and agreed to continue their communications.
The strengthening of cooperation between Russia and Iran has occurred against the backdrop of widespread sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia. On September 19, 2022, Raisi stated that the U.S. sanctions policy only fosters the rapprochement of countries that face restrictions. Putin, for his part, noted that relations with Tehran are developing “in all directions”.
