All Polyclinics in Yerevan to Operate on Weekends Due to Measles Cases
All polyclinics in Yerevan will have special duty hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM due to reported cases of measles in the country. This was announced today by Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonyan during a working meeting at the city hall.
“The duty hours have been established to facilitate an active vaccination process and provide consultation for citizens with complaints,” stated the Deputy Mayor.
Gevorg Simonyan reminded that there are currently 20 confirmed cases of measles in Armenia, 15 of which are in Yerevan. He also added that all confirmed cases have been among unvaccinated individuals.
“Vaccinations are the only effective means of prevention, but at this time, it is advised for citizens who have not been vaccinated or have not received the second dose to wear masks,” he said.
It is noted that according to the national vaccination schedule, measles vaccinations are recommended for children at the ages of 1 and 6. Individuals who have been in contact with patients infected with measles and have not received the two-dose measles vaccination are also subject to vaccination.
Measles is an acute viral infection with a very high level of contagiousness, characterized by rash, dry cough, high fever, and other symptoms. The infection is transmitted through airborne routes.
