Karo Paylan Discusses Possible Attacks on National Minorities in Turkey
Karo Paylan has sent an inquiry to the Turkish Interior Minister regarding the recent news about potential threats of terrorism against leaders of national minorities and religious institutions.
According to Turkish Bianet, the Armenian member of the Turkish parliament, Karo Paylan, questioned the Interior Minister about the validity of information suggesting that there are threats of attacks against national minorities, and what measures are being taken to prevent possible terrorist actions.
Earlier reports indicated that following the burning of the Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in Sweden, rumors circulated that ISIS terrorists had entered Turkey, planning attacks on consulates of European countries, against national minorities, as well as non-Muslim religious institutions. It is known that the consulates of Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom in Istanbul have been temporarily closed.
