Who is the New Ambassador of Georgia in Armenia?
The new ambassador of Georgia in Armenia has been appointed as Giorgi Sharvashidze, former rector of Tbilisi State University. This was reported on the Georgian government's website.
He left his position at the university last autumn. The new ambassador met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who stated that “the development of relations with Armenia is one of the most important directions of Georgia's foreign policy” and wished the future diplomat success in his new role.
Sharvashidze has held various positions in the Ministry of Education and Science, including that of First Deputy Minister. He has also engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities. From 2016 to 2022, he served as rector of Tbilisi State University. Additionally, from 2004 to 2013, he worked as the director of the Academic Support Program at the Open Society Institute in Budapest.
