Azerbaijan Must Be Punished for Its Actions: Marukyan
Azerbaijan has halted the supply of natural gas to Nagorno-Karabakh. On the 37th day of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, Azerbaijan is weaponizing the gas supply interruption as well as blocking all essential needs for the 120,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. Special envoy Edmon Marukyan wrote this on his Twitter microblog.
"Azerbaijan must be punished for its actions," he added.
Recall that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothing closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh to Armenia, under the pretext of environmental concerns. Starting on December 13, the Azerbaijani side also disconnected the gas supply to Artsakh. The gas supply was restored on the morning of December 16, but it was interrupted again and later restored on January 17.
Since January 9, power supply from Armenia to Artsakh has also been disconnected from areas under Azerbaijani control. The Azerbaijani side is not allowing experts to come close and understand the reasons for these interruptions in order to conduct necessary emergency restoration works. In Artsakh, electricity supply is being conducted through scheduled outages.
The Lachin Corridor remains closed.
