Family and Social Benefits to Increase from January 1
Family and social benefit amounts for urgent quarterly support will increase to 20,000 drams (from 18,000 drams) starting January 1, 2023. The poverty threshold will remain at the 2022 level of 28.00. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which also noted that benefit amounts are scheduled to be revised on October 1, 2023, due to the implementation of a new system for assessing family social (poverty) status.
The new approach to poverty assessment means that eligible residents will receive benefits sufficient to bring their income levels in line with the minimum food basket.
