Pashinyan Unlikely to Appoint His Friend Police Chief as Minister of Internal Affairs

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is unlikely to appoint his friend, Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan, as Minister of Internal Affairs. This is not due to any doubts about Ghazaryan's loyalty, but rather because he is not a political figure capable of leading such a mega-ministry or even articulating himself well. The Minister of Internal Affairs is expected to conduct interviews, participate in parliamentary Q&A sessions, and present projects.

To avoid embarrassment, it is being considered that Armen Pambukhchyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, may be appointed instead. However, he also does not fit the profile of a super minister. The structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will include the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the police, and the rescue service, with their heads serving as deputies to the Minister of Internal Affairs. Meanwhile, Vahe Ghazaryan will continue to lead the police.
